Youth Week 09 kicked off with the Southside BMX Warfare Competition at the Ulladulla Skate Park. Over 300 young people and their families came to check out the action of some of the hottest BMX riders on the South Coast.
Plans are already under way to make this annual event – bigger and better for 2010!
The “Many Cultures – One Community” launch was held at the youthy which saw the inspirational art work murals designed by twelve young people under the guidance of local aboriginal artist, Noel Butler of Jamanee Gunya, displayed. Ulladulla High School Koori students not only created these murals depicting “who they are” but they also entertained us with a traditional dance performance.
The first of many “Express Urself” art sessions was held during Youth Week with young people attending the workshop creating beautiful canvass artworks that displayed what it means to be a young person in the Shoalhaven.
All in all, yet another big Youth Week for the Shoalhaven, full of diverse opportunities for our young people to showcase their talent and show how valuable they are to our community.
